Data-sheet quality: created/standardized by Icecat
The quality of the data-sheets can be on several levels:
only logistic data imported: we have only basic data imported from a supplier, a data-sheet is not yet created by an editor.
created by Canon: a data-sheet is imported from an official source from a manufacturer. But the data-sheet is not yet standardized by an Icecat editor.

Canon is pleased to announce the launch of a new range of fully featured entry-level miniDV camcorders. Optimised for high-resolution 16:9 video recording, all of the compact MV900 series camcorders – the MV960, MV930 and MV901 – and the MV890 make the most of the viewing area on the latest widescreen television sets. All camcorders also boast a 25x optical zoom, with variable zoom speeds for increased control, and DIGIC DV processing.

A powerful zoom
All MV900 series camcorders are equipped with a powerful 25x optical zoom with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). The MV960 also features an enhanced 1000x digital zoom, while an 800x digital zoom is available on MV930 and MV901 models. The MV890 features a 22x optical and 700x digital zoom. For even greater control, all camcorders offer variable zoom speeds.

DIGIC DV as standard
For the first time, all of Canon’s entry level miniDV camcorders employ the DIGIC DV? image processor. DIGIC DV provides MV960 and MV930 models with separate processing paths for video and still images (saved to Memory Card), and all models benefit from optimised colour reproduction, ensuring that both video footage and still photographs remain faithful to the shooting subject.

Form and Function
The entire MV900 series and the MV890 have been substantially re-designed, improving on both the balance and the handling of the MV800 series. The models have distinctive, eye-catching colour schemes: silver metallic (MV960), snow silver (MV930) or silver (MV890 and MV901).

At just 115 x 92 x 49mm, and weighing just 380g, the new camcorders combine form and function. Key functions are controlled via six convenient buttons and a joystick controller. An Easy shooting mode is available, switching all the important settings to automatic at the touch of a single button.

The MV900 series replaces the MV800 series and is designed as an easy-to-use and affordable family camcorder. It combines a range of features, including widescreen shooting and 25x optical zoom, in an attractive overall package.

Image sensor
Total megapixels *
A megapixel (MP or Mpx) is one million pixels, and is a term used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras or the number of display elements of digital displays. For example, a camera that makes a 2048 × 1536 pixel image typically uses a few extra rows and columns of sensor elements and is commonly said to have "3.2 megapixels" or "3.4 megapixels", depending on whether the number reported is the "effective" or the "total" pixel count (as opposed to the 2048 × 1536 = 3,145,728 finished image pixels).
0.8 MP
Sensor type *
A sensor is a convertor than measures a physical quality (light, temperature etc.) and displays this electronically on a device.
Optical sensor size
Optical sensors are electronic detectors that convert light, or a change in light, into an electronic signal. They are used in many industrial and consumer applications e.g. lamps that turn on automatically in response to darkness. Optical sensors come in many sizes.
Effective megapixels (movie)
0.47 MP
Lens system
Optical zoom *
Indicates the optical zoom capacity, which is the number of times that the picture can be enlarged with the optics of the camera.
Digital zoom *
Indicates the digital zoom capacity, the number of times that the picture is enlarged thanks to digital technology.
Focal length range (f-f)
Measure of how strongly the system converges or diverges light. For an optical system in air, it is the distance over which initially collimated rays are brought to a focus. A system with a shorter focal length has greater optical power than one with a long focal length; that is, it bends the rays more strongly, bringing them to a focus in a shorter distance. For an optical system in air, the effective focal length (f and f′) gives the distance from the front and rear principal planes (H and H′) to the corresponding focal points (F and F′).
1.72 - 42.9" (43.6 - 1090 mm)
Camcorder tape type *
The type of tape used to record images from a camcorder, e.g. VHS, Video8.
Camera shutter speed
Determines the length of time the shutter lets light pass through the lens to the CCD. Shutter speed and aperture together determine exposure.
1/2000 ~ 1/6
Display diagonal *
Size of the display for this product, measured diagonally, usually in inches.
The description of display that can includes display type, resolution, size etc.
Display resolution
The number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, "1024 × 768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels. The higher the number of pixels, the sharper the image.
123000 pixels
Viewfinder screen size
Minimum illumination
Also known as light sensitivity, this is the smallest amount of light needed for the camera to produce an image of useable quality.
2 lx
Photo effects
Different effects that you can use to modify photos after they have been taken, such as colour filters.
Mirror, Mosaic, Sepia
Ports & interfaces
S-Video out *
The port (socket) where the output for the S-Video is connected.
DV port
Allows to send digital video from the computer to the camcorder and record back onto tape.
S-Video in
Battery technology *
The type of battery in the device, e.g. nickel–cadmium (NiCd).
Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion)
Battery life (max) *
Maximum battery life. Mobile Mark™ (2002) is the standard often used to benchmark battery life time.
4.5 h
Battery type
Description of battery supplied with the product, such battery form factor (e.g. AA/AAA).
