The DCR-HC30 provides a good combination of ease of use and high picture quality in a DV Handycam. Enhancements include a new compact horizontal body design, 16:9 widescreen mode, enhanced touch sensitive LCD technology, improved menu systems and higher quality CCDs and lenses.

The DCR-HC30 features a larger and more versatile ‘Hybrid’ LCD screen. This 2.5-inch display provides a very bright picture for use in high contrast situations, such as beach or ski scenes. The high-class image processing of the DCR-HC30 is complemented by its top quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens. This offers a 10x Variable Optical Zoom and 120x Digital Zoom. It offers Super NightShot Plus, an enhanced version of the technology that can produce colour pictures even when recording in the dark.

An Easy Handycam button on the camcorder now provides a one-step solution for ease of use for beginners. The HC30 comes bundled with Picture Package software for adding music to video and burning to a compatible PC’s CD via the iLINK connection. USB Web streaming allows the camcorder to be used as a Webcam or to be burn video to a CD. The DCR-HC30 includes a DV-IN function that allows video edited on a PC to be recorded back to tape. The HC30 is compatible with Memory Stick DUO™ for high-speed digital image capture, half the size of a normal Memory Stick.
