Quality of Service (QoS)
The DIR-100 supports Quality of Service (QoS), by prioritizing delay-sensitive traffic like Internet telephony, multimedia streaming or on-line gaming. This allows users to experience smooth connectivity without suffering from the effects of network congestion.
Total Network Security
The DIR-100 router features a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall for protection against Internet Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. SPI inspects the contents of all incoming packet headers before deciding which packets are allowed to pass through. Access control is provided with packet filtering based on port number and source/destination MAC/IP addresses.
With Virtual Server Mapping, only specific services on a local server, like web, FTP or games may be made accessible from the Internet, ensuring the rest of the machine stays protected from hackers. If necessary, any of the built-in LAN ports of the router can function as a DMZ port. Parental control allows parents and network administrators to filter out inappropriate URLs, block domains and control when to allow Internet use according to the time of day.
D-Link Click’n Connect, the interactive install wizard, is provided with the DIR-100. It allows anyone with no prior technical knowledge to install and connect the router to the Internet within minutes, just by running the product CD. In only a few steps, the user is taken through establishing physical connections (power and cabling), configuring basic settings for the device, and connecting to their ISP.
