With a router you can connect networks. Most people will use a router to connect their local (wireless) home or office network (LAN) with the Internet. The router makes sure that all computers on the local network can connect with one another, with shared resources and with the Internet and can be configured to forward requests for connections from computers on the internet to the appropriate local computer. In order to connect your local network to the internet via an ADSL or cable, you also need an (Ethernet) ADSL or cable modem if it is not built-in in the router, which is most likely to be the case.

Product Description:

Delivering ADSL/ADSL2 and ADSL2+ enables service providers to offer connections of 24 Mbps downstream with the CopperJet 1614. Furthermore, ADSL2+ extends the reach of ADSL.

The benefits of ADSL2/2+ are higher speeds up to 24 Mbps downstream; Low Power Mode (LPM) enables overall power savings by entering into sleep mode when the connection is not being used; Seamless rate adaptation (SRA) enables the system to change the data rate of the connection without any service interruption; Bonding of ADSL lines provides higher data rates; Fast startup reduces initialization time; Reach can be increased with almost 30%.

The CopperJet 1614 is a Voice over ATM Integrated Access Device and can be upgraded to support Voice over IP (VoIP)*. It has proven interoperability with several Voice Gateways including, TDSoft, Siemens, Zhone and Alcatel. The CJT 1614 supports 1 x ISDN BRI S0 connection on a RJ45 connector that can be used for telephony (ISDN phones), fax (G4) or data (ISDN BRI) services using its automatic switchover system between telephony and data. It also provides layer 2 Bridging, layer 3 Routing and integrates a full-featured firewall for security.

Capable of doing ADSL Annex A, Annex B, U-R2, ADSL2 and ADSL2+, the new CopperJet 16xx products from Allied Data Technologies increase the deployment of ADSL in rural areas and fulfill the demand for more bandwidth.

* VoIP support on ISDN BRI is planned for future release
