    4.29 Megapixels
    Recording high resolution widescreen video straight to DVD (-R/-RW), the powerful 4.29 Megapixel DC40 has capturesa true 16:9 CCDimages. Digital photographs are captured to Mini SD, an ultra-compact high capacity memory card.

    Perpetual curve
    The DC40 doesn't just have the power, it also has the looks. A new concept in camcorder design, the camcorder is ergonomically moulded along a continuous and flowing perpetual curve. The result is an easy to use, elegant device, combining good looks with effortless handheld shooting and intuitive operation of all key controls.

    True widescreen
    The DC40 is geared for widescreen shooting. With a colour viewfinder and a wide 2.7" LCD screen, footage is monitored exactly as it will appear on a widescreen TV. While the LCD's level marker helps to keep the horizon line correctly positioned, switching between 16:9 and standard 4:3 shooting requires just the push of a single button.

    10x optical zoom
    Thanks to a precision engineered 10x optical zoom lens, the DC40 gets the most out of its high resolution 4.29 Megapixel CCD. Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) ensures that footage is free of vibrations, while variable zoom speeds give even greater control.

    Real colours with DIGIC DV
    Canon's DIGIC DV processor delivers vibrant and realistic colours for video and stills. By providing separate processing paths, colours are optimised for each, resulting in great looking photos on paper as well as eye-catching movies up on the screen.

    Hi-Speed USB
    With a Hi-Speed USB connection, it's quick and easy to transfer video and still images to a computer for editing and sharing with friends.

    Built-in flash
    Storing high resolution digital photographs to Mini SD card, the DC40 is a fully-featured digital camera with built-in flash for stillsphotos.

    Super Night Mode LED
    Shooting In in Super Night Mode, the camcorder uses a white LED for low-light shooting - even the darkest conditions won't stop you from making great looking movies.

    Direct printing
    A one-push Print/Share button makes it easy to get digital photos onto paper when the camcorder is connected to a PictBridge compatible printer.

    Software supplied
    The DC40 is supplied with powerful software for managing still images and video footage, including Canon's ZoomBrowser (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Macintosh).
